The Team
The purpose of the Wilson College Dressage Team is to educate all members and others interested about the discipline of Dressage through riding and other activities. Currently the team competes with other colleges and universities in the Intercollegiate Dressage Association (IDA). Throughout the year all members are able to demonstrate their newfound knowledge and skills at Intercollegiate Dressage Association (IDA) competitions and Wilson schooling shows. The team is made up of two groups; riding and non-riding members. Riding members are chosen to compete in IDA competitions based upon their skill. Non-riding members are the back-bone of the team supporting its members at competitions and competing in home schooling shows.
Practices
Riding members are placed into practices and competitions based upon their level of skill which is determined by the coach along with the team captain at try-outs which are held at the beginning of every academic year in the fall. Practices are designed to help develop riders’ overall dressage skill and knowledge along with preparing for Intercollegiate Dressage Association (IDA) competitions. This includes one-hour practices one a week riding different horses. Riders will perform different Dressage tests and movements during practices allowing them to broaden their base of Dressage.
Competitions
Throughout the year members compete in Wilson schooling shows along with Intercollegiate Dressage Association (IDA) competitions. The Wilson College Dressage Team competes in Region C of the Intercollegiate Dressage Association against other colleges and universities including Delaware Valley College, Centenary College, Cazenovia College, Cornell University, and Penn State University. As a team Wilson travels to the college or university and uses the host school’s horses chosen through a lottery-type system.

Drill Team
Full Drill is a group of 8 riders that together perform drill movements at the walk and trot to music. We have three alternate riders this year that fill in when a full drill member cannot ride. We practice Friday nights at 7:00 and perform at various open houses and other events throughout the year including Earth Day.
Quadrille
Quadrille is a group of 4 riders who perform drill movements at a walk, trot and canter to music. The movements are faster and closer than those in the full drill, and require extreme concentration and control. Quadrille is currently inactive in order to focus on rebuilding and strengthening the full drill since we have a lot of new members this year.

Eventing Team
The Eventing team is focused on educating its members about the sport of eventing. Their main side focus is to assist with the building and maintenance of cross country fences at the Equestrian Center.
Team practices on Friday afternoons, and alternates practices between flat, and jumping. During the spring, the team practices outside over the new cross country jumps that Dr. Tukey and the team have built. The team is open to anyone who has an interest in eventing. Comradarie is a must!
Spring 2010: new fences are being built by EQS 270 (Design and Construction of Cross Country Courses and Fences). The fences are designed to allow the fences to be taken at various heights (e.g. 2'6" - 3'6").
New News: Wilson College's Eventing Team will be going to Rolex! (to watch the event and study the courses). Watch for photos!

Intercollegiate Riding Team
The Intercollegiate Riding Team is a year-round team at Wilson, beginning with try-outs in September and continuing until the IHSA National Competition in May. All riders at levels ranging from beginner to advanced are encouraged to try out for the Wilson equestrienne team. Wilson competes in Region III Zone 3 of the IHSA circuit.
Western Team
The Wilson College Western Team is an up and rising team with hopes of showing in the IHSA Western Division this year. The team strives to produce professionally put together equitation riders and instill knowledge of western riding and horsemanship into the team.
Western Team Practice
Each riding member of the team is placed into a practice lesson with other members who ride near the same level as themselves. Lessons last an hour long and are coached by a knowledgeable instructor with much western riding experience. Practice is focused towards the western rider position and ridden horsemanship patterns, in order for show preparation.
Team Competitions
The team competes through the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association in the Western Division.
We compete within Zone Three Region One; which includes schools such as: Wilson College, Bucknell University, Gettysburg College, Juniata College, Millersville University and Penn State.
In competition we draw horses from the hosting school, and without warm-up go into the ring and show the horses to the best of our ability within that specific class.
The Wilson College Western Team’s 2010-2011 show schedule is to be announced in the upcoming months.
