Academic Events

Academic Awards Ceremony

Each year, students from all disciplines are chosen by their professors as recipients of a number of awards based on exemplary and outstanding academic merit and achievement. An awards ceremony is held in their honor, at the closing of the annual Student Research Day.

Arts Day

Arts Day is an annual Fall event held to celebrate the cross-curricular integration, practice and study of the arts within our broad liberal arts curriculum. We have dedicated the day to recognize, in part, how the arts are tied to the disciplines taught at Wilson College, and why it is important to appreciate these connections.

Commencement

Wilson College will hold the 144th Commencement Ceremony on Sunday, May 18, 2014.

Convocation

Convocation, from the Latin convocare, can be translated as a "calling together", and defined as a "ceremonial assembly of members of a college or university".

Wilson College has a long-standing tradition of calling together her members twice a year, at the beginning of each semester. Held in the Alumnae Chapel, Thomson Hall, faculty, students, staff and adminstrators are all called to participate in this important academic event. More information >>

Dean's List

At the end of each semester, a list is compiled of those students who are recognized by the Dean for their outstanding academic achievement. During the following semester, the Dean invites these students to enjoy a special reception held especially in their honor.

Graduation Fair

This is the first and best chance for graduating students to plan for all the details on the road to Commencement. Take advantage of a one-stop opportunity to sign up for Senior Week events and meals, order graduation announcements, make arrangements for flowers, pre-order a DVD of the ceremony, and learn about important post-graduate services. You can even be professionally photographed in your regalia, alone and/or with friends. More information >>

Orr Forum

This year's Orr Forum - Humanity 2:0? - will have a new format. Instead of featuring a main event in the spring, the Orr Forum will offer multiple events throughout the academic year. It will feature Wilson faculty members and guests, offering portraits or glimpses of humanity in light of the claim that humans are evolving, with the aid of technology, into a new form of humanity.
