Convocation, from the Latin convocare, can be translated as a "calling together", and defined as a "ceremonial assembly of members of a college or university".
Wilson College has a long-standing tradition of calling together her members twice a year, at the beginning of each semester. Held in the Alumnae Chapel, Thomson Hall, faculty, students, staff and adminstrators are all called to participate in this important academic event. More information >>

Each year, students from all disciplines are chosen by their professors as recipients of a number of awards based on exemplary and outstanding academic merit and achievement. An awards ceremony is held in their honor, at the closing of the annual Student Research Day.
Student Research Day is an annual event held in honor of outstanding achievement in research between students and faculty mentors. The 2012-13 event is scheduled for Friday, May 3, 2013.
More information >>At the end of each semester, a list is compiled of those students who are recognized by the Dean for their outstanding academic achievement. During the following semester, the Dean invites these students to enjoy a special reception held especially in their honor.

Traditionally, on the first warm day of spring, the dean of the College rings the bell located on the roof of Edgar Hall to cancel classes for the day.
