Artist Residency Program

  • Free housing and free studio space for one or two week periods.
  • Residencies available for: Dance, Painting, Drawing, Ceramics, Printmaking, Photography, Computer Graphics, and Mixed Media.
  • Residencies are for master prepared or professional artists.
  • Artists have 24-hour access to studios.
  • Artists are asked to donate a work produced during the residency to the Wilson College Permanent Collection.
  • Although Wilson is a women's centered college, residencies are for women and men.
  • Artists are housed in dorm rooms. Artists should bring their own linens (single bed) and toiletries. A fan is recommended.
  • Artists are responsible for all of their own artist supplies.
  • Resident artists are responsible for their own food. On campus dinning facilities are usually open, and prices are $5 to $7. Food around town is very cheap! 
  • There are two painting/drawing studios, one computer lab, one darkroom, one dance studio, and an annex building that house ceramics and printmaking studios.
  • The college sits on 350 acres of beautiful property; very scenic. Founded 1869.
  • Wilson is known as an equestrian school, so there are 50+ horses on campus, along with stables, arena, and pastures.
  • There is a working farm on campus, The Fulton Center for Sustainable Living.
  • There will be a few students on campus, but summer course offerings are small and most students leave during the summer months, so long hours in the studio are possible without interruptions.

Forward a statement of your intentions while in residence along with a CV/resume, artist statement, and 10-20 examples of your work. Directing us to a website that has at least some of this information may also be helpful in the review of your application.

Deadlines are ongoing. Residency dates are typically scheduled for June or July, and are not usually confirmed until February.
