Biology and Biochemistry Majors Present Research at Pennsylvania Academy of Science: Chelsea Krebs Earns Third Place Honors in the Oral Presentation Category

Nine Wilson College seniors presented the results of their research at the 89th Annual Meeting of the Pennsylvania Academy of Science (PAS), held April 5-7 at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.

The following Wilson students presented research: Kelly Antonucci, Kayla Croft, Connie Goodwin, Rachael Kinley, Aneshia Knepper, Chelsea Krebs, Monica Lyons, Ovsanna Movsesyan, and Chelsey Smentkowski.

The Pennsylvania Academy of Science judged oral presentations and posters and provided a monetary award for the top three places in each category. Biology major, Chelsea Krebs placed third in the oral presentation category for her presentation, “Comparative Analysis of Viability Assays for Evaluation of Post-thaw Equine Spermatozoa”, a project that she completed in collaboration with Selective Breeders Services, Chesapeake City, MD. Oral presentations were assessed in categories for scientific merit (ranging from experimental methodologies to analysis of results) and presentation qualities, including visual impact and fielding of questions. The overall score was reflective of all subcategories.

All students represented Wilson College with poise and professionalism. The Physical and Life Sciences faculty are proud of the students’ efforts in the laboratory/field and their dedication in preparing for the meeting.
