The Wilson College Child Care Center, licensed by the Department of Public Welfare, is located in Prentis Hall. Currently, the center accommodates 45 children 20 months through 5 years of age year round.
The Child Care Center strives to provide high quality early care and education for children of Wilson College students and staff, and families in the Chambersburg community through a curriculum that is child-centered and developmentally appropriate. The center participates in Pennsylvania's Keystone STARS quality initiative and exceeds state minimum licensing standards.
The teachers help children develop emotional, social, physical and cognitive abilities that they can build on for years to come. These child care professionals work together to provide children with a safe, healthy, organized, and nurturing environment, where children feel secure to try new skills. Given time for hands-on investigation and opportunities to create, reason, problem solve, socialize, and communicate, each child will discover and learn at their own individual pace. Children develop the skills and knowledge to prepare them for entry into Kindergarten.
Enrollment in the center is on a continuous basis as space is available in classrooms.
