Village Life™ - Dordogne
September 19-27, 2013
Bordeaux, Dordogne Valley, Sarlat la Canéda
Join us for this unique opportunity to experience the authentic character of the historic villages in France’s picturesque southwestern region of Dordogne, where the largest concentration of prehistoric art in the world is found. Come see five UNESCO World Heritage sites: the dramatic cliffside village of Rocamadour, L’Abri du Cap-Blanc, Rouffignac Cave, the prehistoric troglodyte village of La Madeleine and Les-Eyzies-de-Tayac. For one full week, explore the history of Neanderthals who etched their stories into cave walls and immerse yourself in the rich local culture and rhythms of daily life in Dordogne.
Stay for seven nights in the heart of Dordogne, where all of France’s provincial charms have been distilled in one of Europe’s most beautiful and intact medieval villages, Sarlat-la-Canéda. Sauntering through the fresh market or cafés of the pedestrian-only streets and marveling at the warm medieval ambiance exuding from honey-colored stone buildings, feels like stepping into the past. You can also learn to speak some French, making your immersion in daily life all the more interesting.
Complementing this one-of-a-kind sojourn are accommodations in the family-owned Plaza Madeleine Hôtel. Combining traditional provincial ambiance with modern amenities, this hôtel de charme is located in a century-old building in medieval Sarlat-la-Canéda and is known for its warm hospitality.
