Museum exhibit information is provided below.* Visiting Van Gogh: Still Life, Basket of Apples: In the spring of 1886 Vincent van Gogh visited Paris for an extended stay, leaving the city in early 1888. The rest is art history. When Van Gogh encountered the Parisian art world and was exposed to the work of the Impressionists and Neo-Impressionists, something changed. Inspired by their bold experiments with color and brushwork, Van Gogh began to paint with a new vibrancy and freshness. Experience this story in four paintings with Visiting Van Gogh, which centers on Still Life, Basket of Apples (1887), visiting from the Saint Louis Art Museum. * Uncrated: The Hidden Lives of Artworks: Did you know that only 7% of the museum’s collection is on view at any time? Have you ever wondered what happens to artworks when they’re not in the galleries? Learn the stories behind some intriguing works from the collection and find out more about the people who buy, move, hang, clean, and care for them. This small exhibition will offer fun facts about the collection while examining nine featured artworks with particularly intriguing stories to tell.* The Art Connection Annual Student Exhibition
