In Wilson field hockey’s win over Shenandoah, three different players scored for the Phoenix. The first goal of the game wasn’t until the second half of play when, senior, Maggie Sipps (Philadelphia, Pa. / Little Flower) was able to score off and pass from Hillary Swartz (Carlisle, Pa./ Boiling Springs). Swartz assisted in another Phoenix goal just ten minutes later when Megan Schneck (Bethel, Pa./ Tulephocken) found the back of the cage. Arissa Ward (Harrisburg, Pa./ Central Dauphin) scored Wilson’s final goal, with Nicole Melanson (Hyannis, Mass. / Barnstable) recording the assist. In her rookie debut, freshman, goalkeeper, Gina Weigold (Charlotesville, Va./ Monticello) tallied one save. This was Wilson’s first win over Shenandoah University in five years.
At Kris’s Meadow, The Wilson soccer team edged out Mary Baldwin in both shots and corner kicks; however the Phoenix were unable to find the back of the net. Senior, Katie Murphy (Schnecksville, Pa. / Parkland) recorded four saves in the goal for Wilson.
Next, the field hockey team will travel to Dickinson College on Wednesday, September 5th. The soccer team will travel to New York this weekend, September 8th and 9th, to take on SUNY Cobleskill and SUNY IT.
