Wilson Softball to be Recognized at Halftime of Soccer Match

During halftime of the Wilson College versus Gallaudet University soccer match Wednesday afternoon, The Wilson College athletic department will be recognizing the Wilson softball team for their achievements during the 2012 season.

Last season, the Phoenix rode a 23 game unbeaten streak on their course to becoming the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) South regular season champions. For their efforts during the season, Leigh Roche (Hanover, Pa./ New Oxford) was named NEAC South Pitcher of the Year, and Tara Field (Berryville, Va./ Clark County), NEAC South Player of the Year. Head coach, Brett Cline was honored as Coach of the Year after leading the Phoenix to their second straight NEAC South Division regular season championship, and fourth consecutive NEAC Championship Tournament appearance. Wilson finished the season 26-5 overall and undefeated at 20-0 in the NEAC South.

In addition, the Phoenix ended the season ranked in the top ten in of nine Individual and Team statistical categories in NCAA Division III, including four number one rankings. As a team, Wilson softball led the nation in Team Scoring (9.84 per game), Team Stolen Bases (3.9 per game). Individually, Bri Smith (Berryville, Va./ Clark County) led in Stolen Bases with 1.2 per game, and Megan Schneck (Bethel, Pa./ Tulpehocken) earned a number one ranking in Runs Scored with 1.55 per game.

Kick-off for the soccer match is set for 4:00 p.m., while halftime and the softball recognition at approximately 4:45 p.m.
