Shelly Novak is a graduate from Wilson College and is currently the Athletic Recruiting Coordinator and Associate Athletic Director. Novak has been coaching field hockey at Wilson since 1994; she enters her eleventh year as the head coach. In 2006, she led the Phoenix to the Atlantic Women’s Colleges Conference (AWCC) Championship. In 2010, her team was recognized as the NCAA Division III leader in shutouts per game.
According to Coach Novak, “Our team is composed of a diverse group of individuals with a wide range of experience. The team is dedicated and close knit. We have increased the strength of our competitive schedule and have set some high goals for the upcoming season.”
While in college, she played field hockey and softball for three years. Novak has coached at Chambersburg High School as the assistant field hockey coach and at Big Spring High School as the assistant field hockey/goalie coach.
Novak completed the MBA program at Frostburg State University in May of 2002. She is a Futures Certified Coach, level II USFHA Coach, and she participates annually at the USFHA Field Hockey Festival. She also serves as an adjunct professor in Wilson’s Exercise and Sport Science Department.
