Bernecker Becomes All-Time Leading Goal Scorer

Courtney Bernecker scored her 32nd career goal this afternoon against Trinity University to become the new all-time leader in career goals at Wilson College. Bernecker and the crew defeated Trinity by a final score of 6-0.

The Phoenix came out aggressive against the Tigers and took an early lead in the first half. Freshman Nana Ama Ohene-Manu netted two goals to give Wilson a 2-0 advantage at the close of the half. In the 63rd minute of the game, Bernecker made history and scored a goal, breaking the career goals record previously held by Mary Miller’08. Bernecker scored another goal in the half as well as she became Wilson soccer’s all-time leading scorer. Nana Ohene-Manu contributed with another goal and senior Brittney Poff chipped in with one goal in the contest.

With the win, the Phoenix improve to 4-9 on the season. The team will begin a weekend home stand on Saturday when they host SUNY IT at 1pm. Courtney Bernecker will be recognized before the game on her most recent accomplishment. The Phoenix will honor their seniors on Sunday, October 20th against SUNY Cobleskill.
