In this segment of PUSH, Wilson College Government Association will give a summary of what has occurred on campus.

Premier Weekend

Premiere Weekend was a great success for all accepted students and their families who attended. Wonderful weather and atmosphere left students smiling.

Aunt Sarah program

The Aunt Sarah program is going really well, with 90 students and counting involved. Students continue to receive gifts from alumnae/i around the globe, creating excitement and growth from this program. If you have not yet received anything from your Aunt Sarah and signed up to receive one, please e-mail your information to and Marybeth Famulare, Director of Alumnae/i Relations, along with Liz Heyer, Alumnae/i Relations representative for WCGA. If you would like to send something to your Aunt Sarah, contact Famulare and drop off your items at the Alumnae House, and they will be shipped to your Aunt Sarah.

Searching for an internship?

If you are in the process of looking for an internship for this summer, please contact Alumnae House in order to find alumnae/i that may have connections to help find an internship or provide housing.

Blue Book changes

Two Blue Book changes have been voted on and passed by a majority of votes, and the process of making those changes is now in the hands of the Blue Book committee. The changes that were voted on and approved by the student body were changes to the by-laws and replacing titles of current committees with a different name. The first contained changes on the elimination of committees no longer in existence, such as the Library, Archives, and Admissions Committees. The second set of changes concerned the Honor Council layout in regard to the faculty members. These changes included deleting ‘Faculty Committee on Student Affairs’ and adding ‘Faculty Honor Council Committee.’

WCGA news

WCGA also announced Emma Echanis ‘14 as the March Student of the Month for her excellent attendance as a hall senator and her interest in being a part of WCGA meetings. Emma received a gift card from Target as an award. If you know someone who displays great leadership on campus, e-mail WCGA at with the name(s) of your nominees and why you are nominating them for this award.

On Wed, March 20, WCGA held their second Pizza Talk of the semester. The talk focused on discussions concerning what students would like to see in a student center and questions from the Traditions Committee representative Hannah DeMoss ‘13. The Student Center Committee has sent out a survey about the student center, so please take the time to sit down and complete the survey so the center is everything that you want and need it to be. The Student Center and Traditions committees greatly appreciated the student input.

Ice Cream event

An Ice Cream event was held on Thurs, April 4 in collaboration with the committee on Gender Equity and Women Centeredness. Those who attended gave the committee great information that will help Wilson thrive as a women-centered institution.

On going elections

Elections for the 2013-2014 Executive Board are on-going and results will be presented in the next issue of the Billboard. Nominations closed April 3 at 5:00pm. Elections are still going on as over 50 student votes are still needed to reach a majority. Next year’s officer team will begin meeting with current officers to prepare for next year and tag along with the current board to meetings, such as the upcoming Board of Trustees meetings in May.
