Wilson College recently received a $1,000,000 grant from the Donald B. and Dorothy L. Stabler Foundation. Awarded on Dec. 21, this grant will assist students financially.

The money received will benefit students who possess both financial need and academic ability. Without this grant, they might not be able to afford tuition at Wilson College.

A Moral Obligation

Students who benefit from the Stabler Grant receive an obligation as well. These students are expected to contribute to the grant after graduation to benefit future students. This is not a legal obligation, but a moral one.

In October 2008, Wilson College received $300,000 from the Foundation, making the total from this endowment to $1.3 million. The foundation will pay the $1 million over four years. The amount allocated each year is to be determined.

The Stabler Foundation supported Wilson College in the past by providing funds for the Curran Scholars Program and the restoration of the organ in Thompson Hall.

The Stablers

The Stablers established the foundation, located in Harrisburg, PA, in 1966. This foundation donates to medical facilities, non-profit hospitals, educational institutions, religious institutions and social service organizations.
