The Health and Wellness Center provides a clinic where students may report to the nurse for limited routine services. The nurse is available to provide instruction and education on a broad range of student needs. The college nurse provides first aid and treatment of minor illnesses and injuries. Services offered at the Health Center are free for all students who have completed the required student health information form. Students are encouraged to participate in their own health care. Health promotion activities, such as the Health and Wellness Fair, are held throughout the school year.
There are various physicians' offices and urgent care centers near Wilson College. The nurse can provide contact information for these offices for all non-emergent issues that need to be seen by a physician. All emergencies are referred to the Emergency Department.
All residential students must participate in a medical insurance program. Students received a memo about health insurance explaining that proof of insurance must be submitted before move-in. Commuter students participating in either intercollegiate or intramural athletics must have proof of medical insurance prior to start of practices.
Many students are insured under a health insurance policy held by a parent or guardian. Some students may not have that option and will need to purchase insurance. In an effort to help our students and their families find a suitable health insurance plan for college students, Wilson became members of the American College Student Association. Through the ACSA, you may purchase one of several insurance plans that are suitable for college-age students. You must join the ACSA to participate, but it is free to do so. If you would like to review the current insurance options, please visit their website at https://www.acsa.com/default.aspx. **Update as of 7/24/13: online enrollment and rates for 2013-14 is now available.
