Performing Arts Series

The Wilson College Performing Arts Committee is proud to present its 19 th annual Performing Arts Series. Since 1992, the series has brought jazz and Big Band ensembles, national companies and other highly acclaimed entertainers to Wilson College and the Chambersburg community.

From the U.S. Air Force Band, folksinger John McCutcheon, the National Opera Company and the National Players to the popular Celtic band Gaelic Storm, Monty Alexander Jazz Trio and the internationally renowned Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, the series has enlightened and entertained audiences – both young and old – and given patrons an opportunity to see some of the most talented performers in the world.

II Voce

Il Voce puts a fresh face on the global phenomenon of the genre labeled “Classical Crossover” or “Popera.” Their amazing sound is created by the combination of these four magical voices and complimented by their beautiful and distinctive look. Bringing passion and virtuosity to their unique interpretations of romantic, classical, pop and opera favorites, simply put, IL Voce is “The Voices.”

One of the best-loved “Battle of the Sexes” is back, with a wild west flare! Cowboy boots, whips and lassos give a biting punch to this classic. Sparring lovers Kate and Petruchio duke it out on the western frontier. Will they ride off into the sunset or die tryin’? The verbal duel never stops as National Players presents one of Shakespeare’s most popular comedies.Giddyup!

Baltimore Mandolin Orchestra

The Baltimore Mandolin Orchestra is one of more than 30 active mandolin orchestras in the United States today. The classical mandolin is currently enjoying a renaissance in our country, and the BMO is proudly riding that wave of popularity. This concert will feature not only mandolins, but also rather exotic vintage mandolas, mandocellos, mandobasses and classical guitars.

J.D. Walter and the Steve Rudolph Trio

J.D. Walter, one of the most innovative and inspiring vocal musicians on the scene today, joins the Steve Rudolph Trio for an electrifying experience in improvised music. Steve Rudolph (photo above) has had an inspiring career as a jazz pianist, composer, arranger and educator. Jazz Improv magazine states, “Rudolph is a savvy, swinging, glimmering heavyweight….simply outstanding.”
