Bridge to Equestrian Center to Open Soon

Good news! Wilson's new pedestrian bridge linking the southwestern part of campus Penn Hall Equestrian Center was put into place on April 18. A giant crane lifted the bridge from a trailer bed and set it onto the concrete supports.

The 60-foot-long prefabricated bridge, made of self-weathering steel with composite decking, was built by Contech Engineered Solutions in Greencastle. R.S. Mowery and Sons of Mechanicsburg is the general contractor.

The bridge is expected to open in mid-May after new pathways and lighting are completed, will make it more convenient for pedestrians to access all parts of the Wilson campus.

The old bridge, which was made of wood, failed after a storm and has been closed since 2008.
