Handmade for the Holidays Set for Dec. 1
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Wilson College will host the second annual Handmade for the Holidays event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, in the upper and lower levels of Lenfest Commons. The event features handmade items from local craftspeople that would make ideal holiday gifts.

M&T Bank Foundation Pledges $15,000 for Outdoor Classroom at Wilson College
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – The M&T Bank Charitable Foundation recently presented Wilson College with a ceremonial check for $15,000, to be used to help construct an outdoor learning pavilion at college farm.

Wilson Basketball Starts the Season with the Vassar College Tip-Off Tournament
The Wilson College basketball team is off to a 0-2 start after traveling to Poughkeepsie, NY this weekend to participate in the Vassar College Tip-Off Tournament. The Phoenix were defeated by Wellesley College 64-35 on Saturday afternoon, and defeated in the consolation match by Cedar Crest College 72-60 on Sunday.

Festive Wilson Thanksgiving Dinner Packs Jensen Dining Hall
A popular Wilson tradition - the annual Thanksgiving dinner for students, staff, faculty and guests - was held Thursday, Nov. 17. Jensen Dining Hall was packed and the mood was fun and festive. Guests feasted on roast turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, green beans and of course, pumpkin pie. Students spontaneously broke into Song Wars following the meal and many lingered long after to chat and visit with fellow Wilson community members. And, true to tradition, the uneaten portions of turkey at each table were divided up among guests, who took the leftovers home to enjoy later.

Wilson College Basketball 2011-12 Season Preview
The Wilson College basketball team has high expectations and is looking to improve on last season’s 5-20 record. This year, the team returns three starters from the 2010-11 season and adds several new players to the roster.

Speaker Addresses Need for Women, Minorities in the Field of Biodiversity Conservation
Dr. Mary Blair gave a presentation at Wilson on Nov. 14, focusing on a lack of diversity in the conservation workforce, why certain groups are underrepresented and what can be done about it. Her presentation, “Women and Diversity in Science: An Imperative for Biodiversity Conservation,” took place in Patterson Lounge in Laird Hall. Blair, a post-doctoral fellow at the Center for Biodiversity and Conservation (CBC) at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City, is the granddaughter of Calvin H. Blair, Wilson College associate professor emeritus of economics, and Maryanne B. Blair, both of Chambersburg.

Wilson Speaker Will Discuss Need for Diversity in Conservation Workforce
Dr. Mary Blair will discuss some of the challenges that threaten biodiversity conservation in today’s world, and ways those challenges might be addressed, in the next presentation in the Wilson College “Science in Society” speaker series. The talk, “Women and Diversity in Science: An Imperative for Biodiversity Conservation,” is free and open to the public. It will begin at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, in Laird Hall’s Patterson Lounge.
