    Health and Physical Education Approved as New Wilson Major

    The Pennsylvania Department of Education has approved a new health and physical education (for K-12) major within Wilson’s education curriculum. Students who declare and pursue the new major will be on a path toward a Bachelor of Arts degree that will prepare them to teach health and/or physical education in Pennsylvania’s public and private schools, according to the program proposal.

    Writers Series Honors Celebrated American Poet Alice Swaim '32

    The annual Writers Series at Wilson College will open on Thursday, Oct. 2, with a remembrance and celebration of the late Alice MacKenzie Swaim, a 1932 Wilson College graduate and world-renowned, mid-20th century poet. The event, to be held from 7 to 7:45 p.m. in Laird Hall’s Patterson Lounge and followed by a reception, is free and open to the public.

    Wilson Awarded $2 Million Title III Grant from U.S. Dept. of Education

    The U.S. Department of Education has approved a $2 million Title III grant for Wilson College under the department’s Strengthening Institutions Program, which is aimed at helping postsecondary institutions expand their ability to serve low-income students and strengthen academic quality, institutional management and fiscal stability.

    Wilson College is seeking artwork made by area high school students for an upcoming juried art show to be held at Wilson’s Bogigian Gallery in Lortz Hall. Submissions of up to three works of art are due by midnight on Oct 8.

    A reception to mark the opening of the Wilson College biennial staff/faculty art exhibition will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, in the Bogigian Gallery on the second floor of Lortz Hall. The exhibit, presented by the Department of Fine Arts and Dance, will continue through Oct. 17.
