Phoenix Set to Celebrate National Student-Athlete Day
Wilson College Athletics will celebrate its student-athletes when the Phoenix take part in National Student-Athlete Day Saturday. This year marks the 26th celebration of National Student-Athlete Day. Student-Athletes nationwide are honored for achieving excellence in the classroom and on the field, while making significant contributions to their schools and communities.

Wilson Athletics Set to Celebrate NCAA Division III Week
April 8 through 14, Wilson College Athletics is participating in a nationwide celebration of NCAA Division III week. This week celebrates the unique Division III student-athlete experience, which offers a highly competitive athletic environment, a commitment to academic excellence and time to pursue other interests and passions. Wilson’s student-athletes are among early 180,000 students who play varsity sports in the NCAA’s largest division. Division III student-athletes play for the love of the game, while striving to excel in the classroom and demonstrate leadership, community service and campus involvement.
Throughout the week, the Phoenix have scheduled several events for the celebration.

Miles Smith Jr. Named First Head Coach of Wilson College Men’s Basketball Program
The Wilson College athletic department is pleased to name Miles Smith Jr. as the first head coach of its men’s basketball program. Starting in the 2014-15 academic year, the new program will begin competition in the NCAA Division III and the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC), and will be the second sport offered for Wilson’s male student-athletes. Coach Smith will have a full year to recruit in preparation for intercollegiate competition.
Smith has also accepted a position in Wilson’s admissions department, and will serve as a fulltime admissions recruiter for the College.

Wilson Lacrosse Postpones Home Opener
The Wilson College lacrosse team’s home opener versus Waynesburg University on Tuesday, March 26 has been postponed due to snowy conditions. The game is rescheduled for Wednesday, April 3 at 4:00 p.m.

Wilson Softball Postpones Doubleheader
The Wilson College softball team’s doubleheader versus Notre Dame of Maryland University on Monday, March 25 has been postponed due to snow. A makeup date for the games is still to be determined. Check back at www.wilson.edu/softball for updates. The Phoenix will be back in action Wednesday, March 27 traveling to Frederick Md. to take on Hood College.

Wilson Softball Postpones Home Opener
The Wilson College softball team’s doubleheader versus Valley Forge Christian College on Thursday, March 20 has been postponed due to weather. A makeup date for the games is still to be determined. Check back at www.wilson.edu/softball for updates. The Phoenix will open their home schedule on Saturday, March 23 hosting Mount Aloysius College. The first pitch is set for 1:00 p.m.

Joanna Hayes Named Wilson’s First Cross Country Coach
The Wilson College athletic department is pleased to name Joanna Hayes as the first head coach of both the women’s and men’s cross country programs. She will immediately prepare for both programs’ debut in the NCAA Division III and the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) beginning in the Fall 2013.

Venue Change for Phoenix Softball Doubleheader Versus Stevenson University
Due to field conditions at Stevenson University softball stadium, Wilson’s double header on Wednesday, March 19th versus the Mustangs has been moved to Robert E. Taylor Stadium to the University of Maryland College park campus. First pitch will be at 3:00 p.m.
