    College to Break Ground on Library Project Oct. 9

    The College will officially break ground on the "Reimagining the John Stewart Memorial Library" project and celebrate Founders Day on Thursday, Oct. 9. The groundbreaking ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. on the west side of the construction site near the intersection of Lenfest Drive and Gall Way.

    Wilson Welcomes 2014 Lenfest Scholars

    Two first-year Wilson College students have been named Marguerite Brooks Lenfest Scholars for 2014-15. Tianna Weist of Chesterland, Ohio, and Amanda Haase of Culpeper, Virginia, were selected for the honor from among a pool of entering students with the highest, cumulative grade-point averages and demonstrated leadership initiatives.

    Wilson Enrollment Increases for Fall

    A total of 759 students have enrolled at Wilson College for the fall semester, an increase of more than 14 percent over fall 2013 with a 41 percent increase in new students in the traditional undergraduate college, producing the largest incoming class in more than 40 years.

    Wilson Professor's Art Exhibit Opens Oct. 4 at Frederick Gallery

    Philip Lindsey: The Language of Painting – an exhibition of art by Wilson College Professor of Fine Arts Philip Lindsey – will open with a reception from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at the Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center in Frederick, Md. The exhibition, which will be housed in the Delaplaine’s Kline Gallery, will continue through Oct. 26.

    Health and Physical Education Approved as New Wilson Major

    The Pennsylvania Department of Education has approved a new health and physical education (for K-12) major within Wilson’s education curriculum. Students who declare and pursue the new major will be on a path toward a Bachelor of Arts degree that will prepare them to teach health and/or physical education in Pennsylvania’s public and private schools, according to the program proposal.

    Writers Series Honors Celebrated American Poet Alice Swaim '32

    The annual Writers Series at Wilson College will open on Thursday, Oct. 2, with a remembrance and celebration of the late Alice MacKenzie Swaim, a 1932 Wilson College graduate and world-renowned, mid-20th century poet. The event, to be held from 7 to 7:45 p.m. in Laird Hall’s Patterson Lounge and followed by a reception, is free and open to the public.

    Wilson Awarded $2 Million Title III Grant from U.S. Dept. of Education

    The U.S. Department of Education has approved a $2 million Title III grant for Wilson College under the department’s Strengthening Institutions Program, which is aimed at helping postsecondary institutions expand their ability to serve low-income students and strengthen academic quality, institutional management and fiscal stability.
