CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – Wilson College senior Maleah Friedline of Jennerstown, Pa., will host a capstone exhibition of her art from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, at 124 Ramsey Ave.

Friedline’s artwork will also be installed at Wilson’s Bogigian Gallery in Lortz Hall, beginning with a reception from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, when she will give a brief talk about her work. The exhibition will continue through Sept. 6.

Friedline’s exhibit, Armor-Plaited Paper, addresses the rapidly changing face of modern society as technology continues to advance and the need, as well as practicality, of the traditional book is called into question.

Armor-Plaited Paper is a three-dimensional personification of a somewhat naïve feeling of having a book in one’s hands and the feelings of accomplishment and satisfaction when the reader completes a book,” Friedline said. “The work is also about the protection of this particular way of gathering knowledge.”

Bogigian Gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Admission is free. For additional information or an appointment, contact Philip Lindsey at 717-264-4141, Ext. 3305.
