Founded in 1869 as a rigorous liberal arts college for women, Wilson began to offer a continuing studies program in 1982 to men and women seeking post-secondary education. This is an opportune time for the new VP/Dean to join a charismatic and energetic new President in her third year at Wilson. The College recently engaged in a community-wide process to define the direction Wilson would take to prosper in the future. In January, the Board of Trustees passed a historic plan that includes the addition of new programs, a commitment to value and affordability, infrastructure improvements and the admission of men to all its academic programs.
The VP/Dean reports directly to the President and is responsible for providing leadership to all academic affairs units and to the faculty to support all aspects of the College’s rigorous academic programs. The VP/Dean oversees the Library, the Academic Support Center, the Archives, the Fulton Center for Sustainable Living, Institutional Research, and related academic offices.
The Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty will be a source of leadership and support while the College expands its mission and programs, and endeavors to more than double its enrollment over time. Candidates should possess strong leadership and managerial skills and have experience in the areas of program development, assessment and curricular design within the liberal arts and sciences. The Vice President will collaborate with the faculty, the other senior administrators and staff to increase enrollment and retention, which are the priorities for every member of the college community.
The successful candidate will possess strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills and will resonate with the qualities of character and values that support Wilson’s culture of collaboration. The ability to think and work innovatively and be actively involved in leading Academic Affairs is essential. An earned doctorate is required.
