– In a Wilson Athletics first, the Wilson College softball team has two players named receive Weekly honor from the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) and the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC). Juniors, Tara Fields (Berryville, Va. / Clark County) and Nicole Musser (Middletown, Va. / Sherando) have been named NEAC softball player and pitcher of the week and ECAC Division III South hitter and pitcher of the week.
Tara Fields was selected NEAC Softball Student-Athlete of the week and ECAC Division III South Hitter of the week for her impressive performance at the plate for the Phoenix. In 29 at-bats this week, Fields recorded 14 hits, with two doubles, two triples, 13 runs scored, 17 RBIs, while only striking out once during the 8 game span. Fields currently leads the NEAC in batting average (.472) and runs batted in (34).
Nicole Musser was chosen as the NEAC Softball Pitching Student-Athlete of the Week and ECAC Division III South Pitcher of the week for her excellent pitching performance. Musser recorded 4 wins on the mound for the Phoenix with 32 strikeouts, allowing just 14 runs and posting a 2.62 ERA.
The duo’s performance has led the team to an 8-0 week, with victories over conference rivals Penn State Abington, Penn State Harrisburg, and the College of Saint Elizabeth. The Phoenix are currently undefeated (16-0) in NEAC South conference play and are 21-2 for the season.
