On Sunday, April 15th, the Wilson College Softball and Lacrosse teams held the 2012 Pink Out games to raise awareness of and support for breast cancer.
The Wilson softball and lacrosse teams showed their support by wearing pink during the games and asking Phoenix fans to do the same. The teams also set up a booth with various educational pamphlets and posters to help raise awareness. The Wilson Alcohol Prevention Programing and Leadership Education (APPLE) team sponsored a non-alcoholic tailgate, providing free hot dogs and drinks to fans who visited the booth. In addition, the Wilson APPLE, softball, and lacrosse teams accepted donations to support women’s health and the fight against breast cancer.
In total, the event raised $200 to support the American Cancer Society. Head softball coach, Brett Cline, was very pleased with the success of the special event. According to Cline, “The Pink Out was a great opportunity for our team to give back and support the fight against breast cancer and raise awareness for a disease that affects one out of eight women in the United States.”
