Wilson Co-sponsors ESTEEM Workshop at Shippensburg University May 11

Hankey Center Director Amy Ensley and Wilson Associate Professor of Mathematics Karen Adams will present workshops at Cumberland Valley ESTEEM (Exploring Science, Technology, Engineering, Earth Science and Mathematics), a day-long program for 7th-grade girls and their teachers to be held Friday, May 11, at Shippensburg University.

Ensley is co-organizer of the event with Debbie Gochenaur, an assistant math professor at SU. Ensley was responsible for creating the professional development workshops for teachers, and will teach a workshop entitled, “Engaging Girls in Math and Science.”

Dr. Adams will present a workshop for students called “Engineering Pop-up Cards.”

Ensley and Adams were awarded a Tensor Foundation grant through the Mathematical Association of America that is supporting the teacher professional development component of the program.
