The Wilson College softball team was eliminated from the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III South Softball Championship with a 4-2 loss to Neumann University.
The Knights jumped ahead early, scoring runs in the second, third, and fourth innings, and keeping the Phoenix scoreless through six innings. Wilson started to rally in the seventh, leading off with a home run from Maggie Sipps (Philadelphia, Pa./ Little Flower). The Phoenix were also able to score Lisa Christiansen (Mt. Airy, Md./ South Carroll) off a double from Bri Smith (Berryville, Va./ Clark County), however, it was not enough to overtake the Knights.
Leigh Roche (Hanover, Pa./ New Oxford) and Nicole Musser (Middletown, Va./ Sherando) split time on the mound for Wilson. Roche started the game, recording one strikeout, walking five, and allowing one run. Musser finished the game for the Phoenix tallying four strikeouts, walking three, and allowing two hits and three runs. Roche received the loss.
The Phoenix finish the season with a 26-5 record, earning their fourth consecutive North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Softball Championship appearance, and their second consecutive EACA Division III South Softball Championship appearance. The Phoenix also rode a 23 game unbeaten streak during the course of the season.
