Wilson College Graduates 121 in 142nd Commencement Ceremony

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — At its 142nd commencement ceremony held Sunday, May 20, Wilson College conferred degrees on 121 undergraduate and graduate students, and granted 73 certificates to those completing the teacher intern program.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — At its 142nd commencement ceremony held Sunday, May 20, Wilson College conferred degrees on 121 undergraduate and graduate students, and granted 73 certificates to those completing the teacher intern program.

Approximately 900 people attended the ceremony, which was held on the college green. Wilson President Barbara K. Mistick presided over the ceremony. Speaker Linda L. Kelly, attorney general of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, addressed the graduating class and received an honorary doctorate.

The college conferred trustee emerita status on Dr. Barbara L. Tenney, former trustee and graduate of Wilson with the Class of 1967. In addition, three faculty members who are retiring received faculty emeriti status: Drs. Virginia Anderson-Stojanovic, Beverly Ayers-Nachamkin and Abdolreza Banan.

Also during the ceremony, Wilson Class of 2012 President Stephanie Bachman and class vice president Amanda Bruno presented the college with a gift from their class – a $1,740 check to furnish the campus with Adirondack chairs.

Sixteen students graduated from Wilson’s Master of Education program: Jennifer Lynn Arnold, Jobie D. Bolden, Ann L. Fague, Julie L. Franchi, Denton Lee Garman, Tiffanie April Garman, Elaine Dennis Kennedy, Sherry Marie Knox, Danielle Nicole Kostyrka, Heather Nichole Landis.
