On Sunday, September 23rd, the Wilson College Soccer and Field Hockey teams participated in the “Play 4 the Cure” campaign to raise awareness and support for breast cancer research.
The Phoenix showed their support by wearing black and pink “Play 4 the Cure” warm-up shirts prior to the start of the game. The Wilson College Athletic department also displayed a Wall of Hope at each game. For a one dollar donation, players and fans were able to contribute to the Wall of Hope with the purpose of sharing messages of encouragement to other breast cancer survivors, or of sharing a personal experience about breast cancer.
Prior to the start of the game, The Wilson College soccer team honored breast cancer survivor, Marsha Klopp, as a reminder of how precious life is and to inspire others in their fight against breast cancer.
In total, the Phoenix raised over 200 dollars from the event and will donate that money to the American Cancer Society.
