In the final two games of the Phoenix's season, junior, Vanessa Whitfield (Chambersburg, Pa./ Chambersburg) combined for a total of 70 points and 23 rebounds, allowing her to surpass the 1,000 career point bench mark.
. In Wilson's 77-75 upset win over North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) opponent Penn State Harrisburg, she led the team with 31 points and 13 rebounds. Whitfield, would better that outstanding performance on Sunday vs. SUNY IT, with a career high of 39 points and 10 rebounds in a game, recording her 12th double-double and ending the season with 1004 career points.
According to head coach Angie Grove, “We are all very happy that Vanessa was able to reach this achievement as a junior. She is a very talented player and capable of being one of the best players in the conference.”
This season, Whitfield led the Phoenix in almost every offensive statistical category. She averaged 16.0 points per game, ranking her 5th among the NEAC. Whitfield also led the Phoenix in rebounding, averaging 9.3 boards per game, placing her 7th in the NEAC.
