Wilson Athletics Set to Celebrate NCAA Division III Week

April 8 through 14, Wilson College Athletics is participating in a nationwide celebration of NCAA Division III week. This week celebrates the unique Division III student-athlete experience, which offers a highly competitive athletic environment, a commitment to academic excellence and time to pursue other interests and passions. Wilson’s student-athletes are among early 180,000 students who play varsity sports in the NCAA’s largest division. Division III student-athletes play for the love of the game, while striving to excel in the classroom and demonstrate leadership, community service and campus involvement.

Throughout the week, the Phoenix have scheduled several events for the celebration.

Monday, April 8
NCAA Division III Discover, Develop, Dedicate

Look for posters of our own Wilson Phoenix and their experiences as DIII student-athletes

Tuesday, April 9
Special Olympics

The Field Hockey team will host a clinic for Special Olympic athletes
6:00 PM – 8:00 PM field house

Wednesday, April 10
Staff/Faculty/Coach Appreciation Day

Student-athletes will invite staff, faculty, or coaches to join them for lunch and a game of disc golf
1:00 PM the green

Thursday, April 11
Community Clean-Up

The softball and lacrosse teams will clean the Athletic Department’s sponsored adopt-a-highway (the areas surrounding campus, parts of Philadelphia Avenue, Commerce Street, and Scotland Avenue)

Friday, April 12
Spirit Day

Show your Phoenix pride and wear Wilson colors

Athlete Appreciation Day
The Athletic Department will sponsor the movie Cool Running and snacks
7:30 PM field hockey lawn or field house (rain)

Saturday, April 13
Strike Out Breast Cancer
All fans please where Pink to support Breast Cancer Awareness
Wilson's APPLE team will provide breast exam and alcohol prevention education
Wall of Hope: Players and fans will be able to share messages of encouragement to breast cancer survivors or of sharing a personal experience about breast cancer

Wilson Softball vs College of St. Elizabeth 1:00 PM Kris’s Meadow

Sunday, April 14
Military Appreciation Day Operation Shoebox

The softball and lacrosse teams will be collecting items to be sent to members of the US military stationed around the world. The collection will continue through April 17.
