CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — The 2013-14 Wilson College Performing Arts Series will get under way Friday, Aug. 30, with a performance by bluegrass band Many Nights Ahead. The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Laird Hall. Tickets are available by calling 717-262-2003 or visiting www.wilson.edu/events.
Born in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley, Many Nights Ahead plays a variety of music, from “bluegrassified” Top 40 covers to traditional bluegrass songs and instrumentals. The band is made up of Drake Cary, mandolin and washboard; Carlton Greenawalt, guitar and guitjo; Amy Haloskey, vocals; Ross Gulliver, vocals and bass; Austin Shifflett, vocals and harmonica; and Walker Turner, banjo, guitar and reso.
The band released its first EP, “We Pick Around,” earlier this year. Said Grace Duffy of underthegunreview.net, “A carefree and loving take on folk, bluegrass and country, ‘We Pick Around’ is about the finest no-frills collection of songs you’re heard in some time.”
