Shenandoah got on the board early in the match when hornet Ashley Cross scored unassisted in just over nine minutes of play. The offensive momentum stayed on Shenandoah’s side when they added another goal by Liz Grover later in the half. Wilson was not able to put any pressure on the Shenandoah defense and could not string together any offensive production in the half.
Shenandoah added a cushion to their lead in the second half, making it difficult for Wilson to make a late comeback. The hornets scored another pair of goals back to back early in the half against the Phoenix while adding three more later in the half. Unfortunately, Wilson could not put together a late rally, and tallied just one shot on goal in the contest.
Sophomore Taylor Crouse and freshman Lauren Hampton recorded a shot apiece for Wilson. Sophomore goalkeeper Gina Weigold totaled three saves in the game.
Wilson looks for their first win of the season, as they host Dickinson College for their home opener on Wednesday, September 4th at 4:30pm.
