Posted: September 6, 2013

The Wilson College field hockey team posted their first win of the 2013 season today when they hosted Wells College for a 5:30pm contest. The Phoenix took the game from the Express by a final score of 4-0.

Wilson began on the right track and scored first when Senior Megan Schneck scored early off a penalty stroke. The first half had a rather long scoreless duration until the Phoenix sparked their offense late. Sophomore Taylor Crouse and Megan Schneck piled on two goals to the Wilson lead with just under two minutes of play in the half. The Phoenix entered halftime with a 3-0 advantage over the Express.

The intensity remained with the home team in the second half as they blanked Wells and added another goal to cushion their lead. Senior Katie Omori nudged a goal in the net early in the second half off of a deflected shot. Wilson was able to continue to outperform Wells both offensively and defensively and walked away with a well-earned victory.

Senior Megan Schneck led her team in scoring, totaling two goals in the contest. Senior Brittney Smith tipped in with four shots in the contest and served as a significant catalyst for the Wilson offense.

With the win, the team improves their record to 1-2 on the season. Wilson will host Earlham College this Sunday for a 10:00am matchup.
