The Wilson College field hockey team played a tough 70 minutes with the Earlham Quakers, but Earlham managed to breakthrough against the Wilson defense, scoring the only goal of the contest. Wilson was defeated by Earlham by a final score of 1-0.
The Quakers and Phoenix played neck and neck the first half, allowing each other no scoring opportunities. Earlham finally executed on their side of the field in the second half when Kaitlyn Brunner shot one in the cage unassisted. Unfortunately Wilson could not find any consistent offense against the Quakers as the majority of the game they played defensively.
Sophomore Gina Weigold had a busy day in net for the Phoenix as she found herself in most of the action. Weigold tallied seven saves in the contest.
Wilson will host Neumann University on Thursday, September 12th at 5:00pm.
