Despite a 3-0 loss, the Wilson College field hockey team displayed a solid effort against a tough Stevenson University field hockey team. Wilson played the Mustangs competitively throughout the entire 70 minutes of play.
Wilson was not able to score any goals in the contest, but they hung with the Mustangs offensively, tallying 10 shots to Stevenson’s 12 shots. Wilson continued to put pressure on the Stevenson defense, but unfortunately came up empty. Stevenson earned three goals of their own and was able to sneak past Wilson’s aggressive defense.
Wilson outshot Stevenson and was able to tie them in penalty corners in the second half of the game. Seniors Megan Schneck and Victoria Whitbred, junior Hillary Swartz, and freshman Megan Sterling recorded two shots apiece in the game. Sophomore goalkeeper Gina Weigold totaled four saves.
The team will travel to Frostburg University on Tuesday, September 17th for a 7:00pm game.
