CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – Area residents are invited to hear a unique, free musical performance of 90 cellists in concert at Wilson College at 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 30, in Laird Hall. The concert will feature participants and faculty members of the Cellospeak Workshop for Adults, a residential seminar for adult cellists being held at Wilson from July 24 to 31.
“We invite all of Chambersburg to come and experience the magnificent sound of the famous 90-cello choir of workshop participants and faculty in an extraordinary program of exciting and glorious music, including two world premieres,” said a Cellospeak spokeswoman.
This is the third year that Cellospeak’s Annual Cello Workshop for Adults, which is in its 10th season, has been held at Wilson. The workshop is designed to allow adult cellists from the levels of novice to proficient to share their love of the cello through playing, studying and performing in large and small ensembles. Throughout the workshop, participants improve their technical skills, acquire valuable information about cello study, gain exposure to the diverse teaching styles of faculty and enjoy their own and others' performances.
The workshop includes private lessons, technique and master classes, coached quartets, recitals with faculty and students, and rehearsals of Cellospeak's signature cello choir.
