The Wilson College field hockey team rallied late, but was not able to pull out the victory as they lost to Washington and Jefferson College, 3-1 this evening.
Both the Phoenix and the Presidents posted a scoreless first half of the contest. Washington and Jefferson snatched the lead in the second half as they found their offense and tallied three goals. Wilson attempted a late comeback and scored one of their own 62:46 in when junior Hillary Swartz scored unassisted. The Phoenix were not able to cut any deeper in the Presidents lead as they suffered the loss.
Sophomore Gina Weigold had a solid night defensively for the Phoenix as she helped her team keep the game close and tallied 12 saves. Hillary Swartz posted the only offensive numbers for Wilson as she recorded all three shots for the Phoenix.
