The Wilson College soccer team played their best game of the 2013 season this evening, which resulted in a 7-0 win over Valley Forge Christian College. The team discovered their offensive spark while shutting out the Patriots and snatching a well-earned victory.
Senior Courtney Bernecker had an all-star performance and tallied three goals. She activated the Phoenix offense ten minutes into the game when she dribbled the ball in net past the Patriots defense. Bernecker struck again later in the first half and ended the Phoenix scoring for the day when she clocked another in 81:56.
Freshman Nana Ohene-Manu produced a stellar performance with two goals and two assists in the contest. Senior Janelle Wills and freshman Nicole Bodulow contributed to the Phoenix attack with one goal apiece.
The team outshot Valley Forge Christian College 24 to 0. They dominated on offense and barely allowed the Patriots to cross on their side of the soccer field. With the win, the team improves to 3-9 this season.
The Phoenix look to string together a win streak in the next couple of weeks. The team resumes play on October 17th when they travel to Trinity University for a 4:30pm game.
