The Wilson soccer team concluded their 2013 season with a solid NEAC win over Gallaudet University this afternoon, by a final score of 3-1. With the victory, the Phoenix end their season with an overall record of 6-11, the best record they have posted in the last five seasons.
The Bison got on the board first 15:03 in the game, but the Phoenix rebounded quickly. Senior Courtney Bernecker scored unassisted to even the score 1-1. Freshman Nana Ohene-Manu followed later scoring another goal to give Wilson a 2-1 lead over Gallaudet at the half.
Courtney Bernecker took possession of the ball 77:53 in and found an open net, scoring her second goal of the game. The Phoenix held onto their lead, playing tough defense late to secure the NEAC victory. Wilson outshot Gallaudet 22 to 6 in the game and held the advantage in corner kicks with nine.
The Phoenix end their season with a two game win streak and will continue to use positive momentum to build for next season.
