As a result of their athletic accomplishments this season, the Wilson College soccer team was interviewed by a local affiliate of ESPN radio this afternoon. Radio host Gordy Schlotter conducted the interview on campus among the student body in the Wilson College dining hall.
The team shared their thoughts and comments about the success of their recent season. The Phoenix ended the season with an overall 6-11 record, the best record they have had in the past five years. Head soccer coach Beth Weixel started off the interview with an overview of the past, present, and future of the program before handing the microphone off to the individual athletes.
Senior Courtney Bernecker was highlighted for her most recent achievement of breaking the career record for goals scored at Wilson College. Bernecker also recently became the new leader in career points scored at Wilson. Seniors Janelle Wills, Caileigh Oliver, and Brittany Poff commented on the team’s accomplishments as well as their individual student-athlete experiences during their time at Wilson. Freshman Teniera Prioleau also added remarks about her first year collegiate playing experience as the Phoenix goalkeeper.
