Wilson College Offers Noncredit Courses

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – Wilson College still has openings in the following noncredit, personal enrichment courses for the fall term:

  • Ballroom - 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays from Sept. 28 to Nov. 16. Cost: $108. Participants will spend four weeks on American-style waltz and four weeks on the Cha-Cha.
  • Color Impact in Your Life – 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays, Oct. 5 and 12. Cost: $25. Class participants will learn about the energy of color and appeal color has to offer, as well as learning easy techniques to incorporate color for balance, harmony and success.
  • Color in the Garden – 10 a.m. to noon. Saturday, Oct. 22. Cost: $15. Landscape designer Jill Hudock will teach participants how to create the look and feel they want to achieve in their garden by using basic design tools.
  • Computers: Step 1 – 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays from Sept. 26 to Oct. 18. Cost: $60. This foundation course covers computer terminology, routine maintenance, data storage and Internet basics.
  • Computers: Step 2 – 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays from Oct. 25 to Nov. 15. Cost: $60. A more advanced class than Step 1, this course covers topics such as email, search engines and social media.
  • Life Drawing – 6 to 9 p.m. Mondays from Sept. 26 to Nov. 21. Cost: $90. Participants are provided with a live model, easels and boards and then allowed to work at their own pace.
  • Lunchtime Yoga – 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Mondays from Sept. 26 to Nov. 21. Cost: $60. Class members will learn how to relieve stress and tension while gaining strength and balance through the practice of yoga.
  • Patient Advocacy for Family and Caregivers – 6:30 to 8: 30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18. Cost: $15. This
  • workshop will help ordinary folks learn to understand the process of diagnosis and getting second opinion; how to navigate the insurance and pharmaceutical industries; and how to use local resources to make sure that the patient’s rights are upheld and respected.
  • Spanish: More is Better - 6:30 to 8: 30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays from Sept. 26 to Nov. 16. Cost: $225. Students will have class twice a week, learning pronunciation, grammar, spelling and usage.
  • Watercolor – 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays from Oct. 5 to Nov. 9. Cost: $70 plus supplies. Designed for the beginner as well as intermediate artists, this class covers basic drawing, color mixing, brush handling and a variety of techniques
  • Hatha Yoga – 5:45 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays from Sept. 28 to Nov. 16. Cost: $60. Instruction in a style of yoga that uses low-impact exercise, combining postures (asanas) and deep-breathing techniques to improve flexibility, balance and relaxation.
  • Zumba – 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. Mondays from Sept. 19 to Nov. 25. Cost: $45. This workout class combines Latin dancing with aerobics for a full-body, rhythmic workout that burns calories without causing exhaustion.

Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis and registrations will be taken up to and including the first day of class.
