Wilson's Muhibbah Club to Host International Dinner March 1

Wilson College's international organization, the Muhibbah Club, will host a spring dinner featuring dishes from around the world on Saturday, March 1, in the dining hall in Lenfest Commons. The dinner will begin at 6 p.m., followed by entertainment presented by the students at 7:30 p.m. in Laird Hall.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – Wilson College's international organization, the Muhibbah Club, will host a spring dinner featuring dishes from around the world on Saturday, March 1, in the dining hall in Lenfest Commons. The dinner will begin at 6 p.m., followed by entertainment presented by the students at 7:30 p.m. in Laird Hall.

The dinner will feature a variety of international foods, including:

  • Appetizer — Chinese Pearl Balls
  • Entrée —Pescado a la Cartagena from Colombia (fish with coconut sauce)and bulgogi with rice from Korea
  • Soup — Chicken Light soup from Ghana
  • Dessert — French Floating Island (Île Flottante")
  • Drink — Thai iced tea with boba

After dinner, students from various countries will provide entertainment, including K-Pop performed by Korean students, a traditional dance from Nepal and a traditional Armenian dance.

The public is invited to attend. There is no cost for tickets for the dinner; however, donations will be accepted. Reservations are required and may be made by contacting club adviser Paul Miller at 717-262-2776 or paul.miller@wilson.edu and leaving a message with phone number, name and number of tickets needed. Tickets will be distributed to guests upon arrival.

NOTE: To assure tickets for this popular dinner, reservations should be made no later than Friday, Feb. 21.

Each year, the Muhibbah Club donates a portion of the proceeds from the dinner to a world relief agency. Last year, the club donated $500 to IMA World Health, a nonprofit, faith-based health care organization providing aid and assistance to people in need in developing countries.

The word "Muhibbah" means unity among nations. This year's Muhibbah Club co-presidents are Ayorkor Dua of Ghana and Neena Gurung of Nepal.

Wilson's international students this semester come from Armenia, France, Ghana, South Korea, Nepal,

Colombia, China, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Northern Ireland, Japan, Canada, Egypt, and the Palestinian territories.
