Wilson College Field Hockey tops the Neumann Knights (2-1) in the Championship Game of the Wilson College Field Hockey Invitational.
The Knights took the lead going into half time with a goal from Christine Hicks. The Phoenix fought back in the second half scoring in the first 9 minutes on a goal from Hillary Swartz (Boiling Springs, PA/Boiling Springs). The Phoenix maintained the pressure and scored with only 5 minutes remaining in the game. Maggie Sipps (Philadelphia, PA/Little Flower) tallied the game winning goal for the Phoenix.
The Knights held a 22-17 advantage in shots and 13-8 advantage in penalty corners. Sam Kotowski tallied 11 saves for the Knights while Phoenix goalie, Brandy Holtzapple (Red Lion, PA/Red Lion) recorded 8.
Maggie Sipps was selected as the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.
The Phoenix improve to 2-1 overall, and face Cedar Crest College on the road on Wednesday.
In the consolation game, Shenandoah topped Wells 4-0. The Hornets had a 1-0 lead at halftime. However the Wells Express fought hard and held the Hornets at bay until the last 15 minutes of the game. The Hornets added 3 more goals to secure the win. Shenadoah held the advantage in shots (20-8) and penalty corners (15-5).
