CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – Wilson College senior Laci Cox of Cascade, Md., will host a capstone exhibition of her photographs at coffee shop Artfully Brewed, 115 N. Main Street, Chambersburg, in late April through early May.
The exhibition, entitled Through the Arts, will open Monday, April 28, with a reception from 6 to 9 p.m., and remain on view through May 9. In addition to this exhibition, Cox will also exhibit her work in Wilson’s Bogigian Gallery from May 7 to 19. A reception for the artist will be held in Bogigian Gallery from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on May 7.
Cox’s photographs provide an intimate look at various disciplines within the visual and performing arts. The images include a range of close-up and near-shots of attributes and subjects associated with specific disciplines. The subjects are located within neutral backgrounds and show a sense of movement, motion, isolation or stillness. .” Her work is silent, poetic and reflective, and offers a glimpse into the existence of a young woman making sense of her life through the arts.
“… The audience can see how art has helped me become the person I am, and the person I will become, Cox writes in her artist statement. These black-and-white photographs isolate the subjects – dancer’s feet and gestures, musical instruments, and studio tools and materials – for the most intimate presentation.
Cox will also discuss her capstone work in a brief talk during Wilson’s annual Student Research Day, to be held on Friday, May 2.
The Bogigian Gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Admission is free. For additional information or an appointment, contact Philip Lindsey at 717-264-4141, Ext. 3305.
