CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – Wilson College’s international student organization, the Muhibbah Club, will host a dessert sampler featuring delicious desserts from around the world on Saturday, Nov. 5, in the Jensen Dining Hall in Lenfest Commons. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the dessert sampler will begin at 7 p.m.

In addition to desserts, the evening will feature entertainment by Wilson’s international and American students, who will demonstrate traditional dances, poetry or music from their native countries, including an Armenian folk dance and a Nepali dance. Several South Korean students will drum to music in a popular theater performance in that country called NANTA.

Desserts will represent five nations and include: a sweet, crunchy, coconut candy from Ghana; classic French crepes; a thick Korean pancake with a peanut and cinnamon filling; Mexican churros made from fried dough and coated with sugar and cinnamon; and a Pakistani dessert called Ras Malai, which are soft balls of dough prepared in milk and flavored with sugar and pistachios.

The public is invited to attend. Tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for students. Reservations are recommended and may be made by contacting club adviser Paul Miller at 717-262-2776 or paul.miller@wilson.edu, and leaving a message with phone number, name and number of tickets needed. Some tickets will be available at the door.

The word “Muhibbah” means unity among nations. This year’s Muhibbah Club co-presidents are Shin Young Lee of South Korea and Jyostna Dhakal of Nepal.

Wilson’s international student population in the College for Women comes from nine countries, including South Korea, Nepal, Pakistan, Thailand, France, Mexico, China, Armenia and Ghana.
