Wilson Softball Takes 3 in Season Opening Tournament

The Wilson College softball team brought home 3 wins from their season opening tournament, the Peace College Triangle Classic in Raleigh, NC.

The Wilson College softball team brought home 3 wins from their season opening tournament, the Peace College Triangle Classic in Raleigh, NC. Wilson opened the 2012 season on Friday, February 24th going 1-1 for the day. The Phoenix beat St. Augustine 14-11, however suffered a 10-0 loss to Eastern Mennonite. On Saturday, Wilson went 2-0 earning wins over Mary Baldwin College (15-4) and Peace College (8-0).

Sophomore, Megan Schneck (Bethel, Pa./ Tulpehocken) turned in an outstanding performance for the Phoenix, going 8 for 15 at the plate with six runs scored, three RBIs, and three stolen bases, with a .533 batting average and a .600 slugging percentage. Schneck was named the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) softball student-athlete of the week for her efforts

Juniors, Leigh Roche (Hanover, Pa./ New Oxford) and Nicole Musser (Middletown, Va./ Sherando) split time on the mound for Wilson. Roche recorded 2 wins for the Phoenix, allowing only 20 hits, 15 runs, and recording 16 strike outs. Musser went 1-1, with 18 hits, 10 runs, and 11 strike outs.

On Thursday, March 8th, Wilson will take on Hood College in the Phoenix home opener.
