A Vision for the Future of Science, Mathematics and Technology at Wilson College


Wilson College has a rich heritage of educating women who go on to distinguished careers in the sciences and science-related disciplines.  The sciences are central to a liberal education and currently more than 50% of all Wilson students are enrolled in science-based majors. 

Since the Paul Swain Havens Science Center was constructed in 1967, the number of students and faculty who use the facilities has increased dramatically, and the demand for additional teaching, research and laboratory space has increased accordingly.  At the same time, science and teaching have changed radically, yet the Havens Science Center has undergone few renovations to accommodate these changes.  In addition, current laboratory conditions do not meet today’s safety and building codes and ADA accommodations are also insufficient.
