International Resources

Academic Advisor:
Each student at Wilson is assigned to an academic advisor. This professor will assist you in planning your complete program of study. You will meet your academic advisor during the orientation program and other times before registration. If you want to participate in drop/add, you must speak with your advisor and also get confirmation from the international office.

Academic Support Center:
The Academic Support Center includes professional staff members along with 16 tutors who provide free assistance. The Academic Support Center can help write or revise papers, prepare for a test, provide free tutoring, review note-taking and time management skills, along with offering disability support services. To find out more, call 717-264-4141, ext. 3351 or ext. 3349, or visit the Academic Support Center.

Culture Exchange:
You can be paired with an American student who has volunteered her time to meet with you once per week. You will meet to discuss cultural issues, educate each other, and make an American friend.  You can educate her about your culture and language. More information will be provided in the beginning of the fall semester.

Friendly Families/Host Homes:
This program allows international students to connect with a local host family.  You do not live with this family; however, many Friendly Families invite students to family activities, holiday celebrations, and outings.  You will get to meet your Friendly Family shortly after your arrival in August. We have a get-aquainted dinner and an end-of-year picnic. Plus, you and your family will meet often for fun!

International Admissions Counselor:
Laura Hollenbach, the international admissions counselor will most likely be your first Wilson contact. She can provide information about Wilson College, life in the United States, assist with some immigration documents, and help coordinate travel plans for your arrival.

International Office:
Some international students will be required to take English as a Second Language (ESL) classes; however, all international students can and should meet with the international office. It has information regarding everything from cultural adjustment, visa issues, to roommate concerns.  Immigration questions should be directed to the International Student Advisor.

Muhibbah Club:
The Muhibbah Club promotes the awareness of international students and issues preparing and serving two international dinners per year.

Resident Assistants (RA):
Resident Assistants are students who live in the same dormitory with you. They are trained to help resolve roommate disputes, plan social events for your floor, and give you sisterly advice!

Shuttle - Daily and Breaks:
As a service to its students, the Office of Student Development offers a Friday night shopping shuttle in addition to an airport shuttle for college break periods.

Staff Mentor
A staff mentor will be assigned to you to provide guidance in a variety of matters ranging from resources available on campus to American culture.
