The best thing about Facebook is that it makes it easy for anyone to get started, and has an extensive "Help" section that will answer your questions and walk you through the process of creating an account: www.facebook.com/help.php
How to create a Facebook account:
Go to
www.facebook.com (you will need a personal e-mail address to open an account).
Once you've signed up, you can create your profile page. (Tab found at top left, right of Facebook logo).
Now that you have your page, you will want to find some "friends."
To add a friend, just use the search function at the top of the page to find people you know and then click on the "Add to Friends" button on the right side of the page. A friend request will be sent to that person. Once they confirm that they actually are friends with you, they will show up on your Friends List.
Please note: If you write on someone's wall, everyone can read it. If you click on the Inbox tab above right, left of home, you can send private messages that will only be seen by the recipients.
When you log out and then log in again, your page will open to a News Feed page, which will list what your friends have been up to and tell you if you have any "requests" you need to attend to. Any request you receive can be accepted or ignored. If you ignore a request, it will be removed from your queue, and the person who sent it to you will not be notified.
To change or update your profile at any time after you first create your profile, you will need to click on the Profile edit tab.
Facebook is one of those things you will learn by doing-do not be afraid to visit the help section or go to your other Facebook "friends" for help as well.
