"Energy and YOU!" Workshop
Saturday, February 8
Time: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Location: Harry R. Brooks Complex for Science and Math at Wilson College
The Fulton Center for Sustainable Living and Hagerstown Community College will be cohosting the sixth annual “Energy and YOU!” Workshop in the Harry R. Brooks Complex for Science and Math at Wilson College on February 8, 2014 from 8-4:00 pm. This year’s theme is:
Renewable Energy - Beyond Incentives and Rebates
As government subsidies expire or are reduced, consumers may be wondering how they can ever afford to install a renewable energy system. They may question the entire return on investment. This year's 'Energy And YOU' workshop explores affordability, the dropping prices of components, and helps demystify the buying options now available.
Keynote Speaker. John Christensen
Solar Energy Advocate/Government Affairs/Customer Care, Quality Assurance at Mountain View Solar, Vice President at Eastern Panhandle Central Labor Council, Appointed member of theCounty Board of Directors.
John has spent the past 4 years getting his company the information it needs to compete in affairs of local, state, and federal government matters that impact the solar energy industry. He has arranged and hosted solar mixers for educational purposes as well as researching grant opportunities. He has advocated for solar energy legislation in Charleston, West Virginia a predominately coal producing state with great success. His knowledge and experience in a state such as West Virginia, where incentives are few compared to surrounding states, will help us see that the industry can grow beyond incentives and rebates.
Additionally, some of the topics to be explored throughout the day include:
Options for low-cost, progressive levels of renewable energy installation.
Cost comparisons and trends of installed system over the past 5 years.
Other available green and renewable technologies.
